Little About Myself...

My name is Dustin Catt, born and raised in the beautiful city of Indianapolis, Indiana with family for whom I love and care deeply. My mother is a student support specialist at Model Secondary School for the Deaf, Washington DC and my father is retired from Indiana School for the Deaf.  My sister is happily married and residing in Manassas, Virginia with my two beautiful nieces. My brother is currently a student of Gallaudet University majoring in English.

Now a new resident of Virginia, I am a freshman at Gallaudet University in the Bachelor of Interpreting Program.  The interpreting program here at Gallaudet is said to be pinnacle and here I intend to polish and hone my skills as a interpreter.  Once completed I plan to make my place in the community and give back.

While here at Gallaudet I am taking full advantage of doing what many guys wish they could do which is to play football once again; playing offensive and defensive lineman for the Bison football team.  During the off season I am  an active participant in Gallaudet Intramurals.

When I have time to myself I like to stay active with a variety of hobbies and interests, mainly of those that require being outside.  Pickup games of basketball, hiking through the woods, and going camping are just  to name a few.  Always an active and outgoing individual, I  still require down time. So sitting down to a good movie is the perfect remedy after long exhausting days.

Familiarize Yourself... MBTI and VAK

  • Extravert: I like getting my energy from active involvement in events and having a lot of different activities. I’m excited when I’m around people and I like to energize other people.
  • SensingI’m concerned with what is actual, present, current, and real. Paying attention to physical reality, what I see, hear, touch, taste, and smell.
  • FeelingI believe I can make the best decisions by weighing what people care about and the points-of-view of persons involved in a situation.
  • PerceivingTo others, I seem to prefer a flexible and spontaneous way of life, and I like to understand and adapt to the world rather than organize it.

To be successful, efficient individual one must be familiar with his or her own personality qualities and learning style.  The MBTI and VAK assessments are personality tools that can help to determine what type of personality traits I carry and match my qualities with possible career matches. My MBTI results came out to be ESFP and the VAK  results came out to say I am a kinesthetic learner.  Both tools indicate a physical, hands-on approach to learning which is very befitting with my athletic, social nature.  Being able to see the concept at work or coming to a solution as a group really helps me to focus thoughts and process ideas in an efficent manner.
